Golfing in the Desert

Tucson desert golf courses face challenges such as limited irrigation rights. As a result, expect to encounter narrower fairways running through natural desert landscape. The end result is striking, with views of the majestic Santa Catalina, Rincon, and Santa Rita Mountains as a backdrop to natural saguaros, mesquites, palo verdes, giant cottonwoods and occasionally the stereotypical tumbleweed patch. Hit a ball into a bunker and you might find it tucked into a sun-baked crust. Into the “rough” and you may find yourself standing on natural desert watched by an audience that may include roadrunners, quail, deer, or javelina.

Many of Tucson’s municipal courses were once private country clubs. Enjoy first class courses and money-saving discounts at city courses with a City Pass, Mega Pass, or Senior Discount.
